Life threatening swelling of the tongue caused by blood pressure medication (Angioedema from angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors): A 48-year-old woman presented with a 1-day history of progressive swelling of the tongue. The patient had been taking enalopril for 2 years prior. The history is suggestive of angioedema (swelling of the soft tissues of the oral cavity and throat) secondary to the use of specific class of medications for high blood pressure called ACE inhibitors.
