Pelvic fracture
with dye test to evaluate for injury to the channel through which
urine flows (Pelvic fracture with retrograde urethrogram):
A 33-year-old man was brought to the emergency department by ambulance
after a motorcycle accident. He had marked deformity of his pelvis
and blood at the tip of his penis. The dye study (retrograde
urethrogram) to evaluate injury to the hollow tube through
which urine flows called the urethra
shows no evidence of urethral injury but does demonstrate
that the pubic bones are out line as are the bones that connect
the lower spine to the pelvis (sacroiliac joint). (L.S.)
