Stab wound to the right chamber of the heart (right ventricle): A 32-year-old man presented with a stab wound through the sternum (center bone on the chest wall under which the heart lies). His blood pressure on arrival to the emergency department was moderately low and rapidly became unmeasurable necessitating CPR. In the Emergency Room the physicians opened the chest to try to sew the injured heart wall together. This wound was found at the time of the surgical procedure. (L.S.)
